Booking Terms
Terms and conditions governing all car rental reservations made through baricarrent.com
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Booking Terms ("Terms") govern the relationship between baricarrent.com ("we", "our", "the platform") and any individual ("you", "the customer") who browses, searches, reserves, or otherwise uses our car rental search and booking service based in Bari, Apulia, Italy.
By completing a reservation through this website, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms in full. If you do not accept these Terms, you must not proceed with a booking. These Terms apply to all rental categories available on the platform, including economy compacts, automatic vehicles, SUVs, family 7-seaters, and premium cars available for pickup at Bari Karol Wojtyla Airport (BRI) and other Bari locations.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The version in effect at the time of your reservation applies to that booking. Material changes will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
2. Eligibility Requirements
Minimum Age
The primary driver must be at least 21 years of age at the time of vehicle pickup. Drivers aged 21 to 24 are classified as young drivers and are subject to a daily young driver surcharge, which varies by vehicle category. Certain premium vehicle classes require the primary driver to be at least 25 years of age. Age limits are enforced at the pickup counter in Bari and cannot be waived.
Driving Licence Requirements
A full, valid driving licence held for a minimum of 12 months is required. Licences issued in EU member states are accepted as-is. Drivers holding licences issued outside the European Union - including those from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, and other non-EU countries - must present an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their national licence. Both documents must be originals; photocopies are not accepted.
Identity Verification
A valid government-issued photo ID (passport or national identity card) must be presented at vehicle pickup. The name on the ID must match the name on the reservation exactly.
3. Reservations, Cancellations, and No-Shows
Reservation Process
A reservation is confirmed once you receive a confirmation email from us. Reservations made through this platform do not require a credit card and carry no upfront deposit in most standard categories. This low-friction booking process - debit-card-friendly with no deposit blocked - is a core feature of our service. Some premium or specialist vehicle categories may require a guaranteed payment method at the time of booking; this will be clearly indicated before checkout.
Free Cancellation Policy
Flexible rate bookings may be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup may incur a fee equivalent to one rental day at the booked rate. To cancel, use the link provided in your confirmation email or contact us at [email protected].
Same-Day and Last-Minute Bookings
Same-day reservations are accepted up to 2 hours before the requested pickup time, subject to vehicle availability. We recommend booking in advance during peak summer months (June through August) when demand at Bari airport is highest.
No-Show Policy
If you fail to collect the vehicle at the agreed time and location without prior cancellation, the reservation will be treated as a no-show. No-show reservations are non-refundable and the vehicle will be released back into the fleet.
Amendments
Booking amendments (change of dates, pickup location, or vehicle category) are subject to availability and may result in a price adjustment. Amendments must be requested at least 24 hours before pickup by contacting [email protected].
4. Pricing and Payment
Displayed Currency and Pricing
All prices displayed on this platform are denominated in Euros (EUR). Prices shown are per day unless stated otherwise and are inclusive of applicable VAT at the current Italian rate. The total price shown at checkout reflects the base rental rate for the selected vehicle category and duration.
What Is Included
Unless stated otherwise, the standard rental rate includes: unlimited mileage, basic third-party liability insurance as required by Italian law, airport or city pickup at the selected Bari location, and 24-hour roadside assistance within Italy.
Optional Extras
The following optional extras may be added to your reservation at the time of booking or requested at the pickup counter, subject to availability and additional charges:
- Child and infant seats (infant, toddler, and booster categories available)
- Satellite navigation (GPS) device
- Additional driver
- Portable Wi-Fi device
- Full coverage upgrade (zero excess)
Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided, a refuelling fee will be charged at the prevailing local pump rate plus a service charge. Pre-purchase full-to-empty fuel options are available on request at the pickup counter.
Payment at Pickup
For bookings made without a credit card deposit, final payment or a hold confirmation may be required at the pickup counter. Accepted payment methods at pickup include major debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and cash in Euros. Please refer to your confirmation email for the specific payment requirements applicable to your booking.
5. Vehicle Use Rules
Lawful Use
The rental vehicle must be used lawfully at all times and in full compliance with the Italian Highway Code (Codice della Strada) and any local regulations applicable in Apulia and across Italy. You accept sole responsibility for any fines, penalties, or charges arising from traffic violations, toll non-payment, or parking infringements during the rental period.
Prohibited Activities
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement, loss of insurance coverage, and full liability for any resulting damage:
- Off-road driving on unpaved tracks, beaches, or terrain for which the vehicle is not designed
- Use in competitive racing, speed tests, or any motorsport activity
- Subletting, re-renting, or otherwise allowing an unauthorized driver to operate the vehicle
- Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or any substance impairing driving ability
- Transporting the vehicle by ferry, rail, or other conveyance without prior written consent
- Use of the vehicle to transport goods for commercial purposes or for hire of any kind
- Crossing international borders without prior written authorization; specific cross-border permits may be arranged for travel to neighboring countries
Authorized Drivers
Only drivers named on the rental agreement and who have presented a valid licence at pickup are authorized to drive the vehicle. Any damage caused by an unauthorized driver voids all insurance coverage.
Vehicle Condition on Return
You must return the vehicle in the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear. Any new damage identified at return will be assessed and charged according to the applicable damage schedule. A full inspection is conducted at pickup and return; you have the right to request a copy of the inspection report.
6. Insurance and Liability
Basic Coverage Included
All rentals include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP) as standard, reducing your financial exposure in the event of accident or theft. Basic CDW/TP cover is subject to an excess amount (deductible) that varies by vehicle category and is shown at the time of booking.
Excess Amounts
The standard excess for economy and compact categories is typically EUR 800 to EUR 1,200. SUV and premium categories carry a higher excess. The exact excess applicable to your reservation is stated in your booking confirmation. You remain liable for damage up to the excess amount even with CDW included.
Optional Full Coverage
A Super CDW or full coverage upgrade reducing your excess to zero is available as an optional add-on. This provides maximum protection and is particularly recommended for travel during busy summer weekends when traffic on the SS16 coastal road and in Bari's historic centre can be congested.
Exclusions
Insurance coverage does not apply in the following circumstances: damage caused by a prohibited use as listed in Section 5; damage to tyres, windscreen, or undercarriage caused by negligent driving on unsuitable surfaces unless a specific tyre and glass waiver has been purchased; loss of personal belongings left in the vehicle; and incidents involving an unauthorized driver.
Accident Procedure
In the event of an accident, you must: stop the vehicle safely; notify local police (Polizia Stradale) if the accident involves injury or significant property damage; complete the European Accident Report form (Constatazione Amichevole) if another party is involved; and notify us within 24 hours by emailing [email protected] with a description and photographs.
7. Limitation of Liability
baricarrent.com acts as an intermediary platform connecting customers with licensed car rental suppliers operating in Bari and across Apulia. We do not own or operate the rental fleet directly. While we take reasonable care to present accurate information and partner only with reputable suppliers, we cannot be held liable for: vehicle unavailability due to circumstances beyond our control; supplier operational issues at Bari Karol Wojtyla Airport or other pickup points; discrepancies between supplier terms applied at the counter and information displayed on this platform that result from a supplier's unilateral changes; or indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from a rental transaction.
Our maximum aggregate liability to you in connection with any booking is limited to the total amount paid by you for that specific reservation. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Italy. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or a booking made through this platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bari, Apulia, Italy, unless mandatory consumer protection legislation in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings before a court in that jurisdiction.
Consumers resident in the European Union have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr as an alternative means of dispute resolution.
