Head south on the SS16 Adriatica and within 35 minutes you are parked above the sea cliffs in Polignano a Mare. Continue to Monopoli, then turn inland on the SP237 through olive groves toward Alberobello and its UNESCO trulli landscape, approximately 55 km from the city centre.
For a scenic inland loop, take the SS96 west into the Murge plateau and the town of Altamura, famous for its cathedral and bread. Return via Gravina in Puglia for canyon views. Total circuit: about 160 km, ideal for a full day with an automatic or compact Bari car hire.
